Wildebeest are...WEIRD

Image
From The Verge [T]he common wildebeest has the thick, horned bust of a buffalo, the spindly legs and wispy tail of a horse, and the scraggly whitish beard of a wizard.   [M]ales are judged by females based on who has the best area of grass and makes the most obnoxious noises. Biologist Richard Estes ...has...  seen ruts in which bulls get so worked up fighting each other for territory that they forget the females entirely.   ...Wildebeests have scent glands in their hooves... Seriously, these are weird (should I say implausible? ) beasts...

Where to Eat in Hanoi

TL;DR -- Everything is best at the little storefronts that have wee tiny plastic stools on the sidewalks - far far better than eating indoors in air-conditioned comfort (and silence). Notes In general, most everything is quite clean/safe (and, when in doubt, eat stuff that has been cooked :-)  Nothing should cost more than a few dollars a head - the most expensive meal we had came to $5/head.  (and yeah, you can eat indoors in air-conditioned comfort.  Whats the point?) Lunch / Dinner All'Antico Ristoro di Cambi (Via San'Onofrio 1/R, +39.055.217.134)  An old school restaurant, slightly  off the beaten path, which has spectacular steak and "pomodoro al pappa" (think "fresh tomato soup w/ bread").  Also, if they have lardo, get it! Al Tranvai (Piazza Torquato Tasso 14r, +39.055.225.197)  In a restaurant that looks (vaguely) like a tram ( tranvai! ), this Slow Food place has incredibly good pasta, and even gooder  baccalao.  And, of
